Police, admin on alert for Chehlum security

FAISALABAD
State Minister for Water and Power Ch Abid Sher Ali has directed the district administration and the police to adopt foolproof security measures on Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain on Tuesday (today).
He was talking to the media at Ghanta Ghar Chowk after taking a round of Chehlum procession routs here on Monday. Abid Sher Ali said that Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif had ordered that all routes leading to the Chehlum processions should be thoroughly checked and cleared. He said that the entry of people on these routes should be curtailed and only those cleared through monitoring should be allowed to attend the Chehlum processions or majalis. The minister, accompanied by MNA Haji Akram Ansari, MPA Mian Tahir Jamil, DCO Noorul Amin Mengal and CPO Dr Haider Ashraf, inspected all routes of the Chehlum processions.
The state minister said that the administration and local police had been ordered to seal all the small paths leading to the routes of the Chehlum processions and strict security measures be adopted. He said that CCTV cameras should remained functional throughout the day failing which strict disciplinary action would be taken against those responsible of the failure. He said that The CM had desired that religious harmony should remain intact among all the religious sects to maintain law & order. He especially thanked the traders and Ulema for their unwavering cooperation to the administration in maintaining law and order during Muharram and hoped that they would help maintain law & order during the forthcoming Muharram Chehlum. The minister exhorted that the screening of the routes leading to Chehlum procession be made security sweeping.
Earlier, the minister along with local parliamentarians and district administration conducted inspection of the Christmas bazaar established at local Christian town. The minister inquired about the supply of essentials to the bazaar and directed the local administration to make available cheaper essentials at Christmas bazaar. Ex MPA Kamal Chugtai and Pastor Ajmal Chugtai thanked the Punjab govt and local administration for supply of consumer goods in the Christian town Christmas bazaar on subsidized rates.
