LAHORE : Quartermaster General Lt. General Najeeb Ullah Khan and National Logistic Cell DG Maj. General Ashgar Nawaz called on Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique.
Freight transportation matters were discussed in the meeting. Railways has been playing vital role in transport sector (both passenger and cargo) for many years. However, the Railways monopoly had become limited for past few years in freight sector. The current government, however, took it a challenge to bring improvement in the sector, it was said.
The recent change in transit trade in the region was also discussed in the meeting. It was the common point of view in the discussion that cooperation between Railways and NLC in cargo sector was the need of the hour and both could play an important role in transit trade of the region.
