Senate chairman for fixing handsome dowry

LAHORE - Chairman Senate Nayyar Bukhari said on Monday that handsome amount should be fixed as dowry to secure the future of the brides.
Addressing the mass marriage ceremony organised by jointly Ameer Begum Welfare Trust and the government of Norway at a local hotel, he said that helping poor people in arranging marriage of their daughters was a noble deed which should be encouraged.
“There is no shortage of generous and kind hearted people in our society”, he said, adding that many blocks of Holy Family Hospital, Islamabad were constructed with the cooperation of non-Muslims.
Chairman Senate expressed well wishes for 25 newly married couples on the occasion.
Later, the Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Khurshid Shah said that government should pay heed towards controlling price-hike in the country.
To a question, Khursheed Shah said that Imran Khan should tell whether there was no price-hike in Khyber-Pakhtukhwa.
PPP Punjab President Mian Manzoor Wattoo, Trust Chairperson Rubina Shaheen Wattoo and PPP leader Naveed Chaudhry were also present on the occasion.
