Five ‘terrorists’ killed in DG Khan shootout

Five suspects, who had been alleged tasked with sabotaging the celebration of Eid Miladun Nabi (SAWW), were gunned down in a shootout with police in the wee hours of Wednesday here.
The police officials claimed that the terrorists who had planned terrorist activities on the occasion had been killed by their own accomplices while two of them managed to escape. The dead bodies of the five suspects have been shifted to Multan after postmortem at a hospital.
On a tip off from Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), the Multan police at a check post indicated the suspects to stop. However, they opened firing on the police party. The police claimed that five of their accomplices have been killed by the firing of their accomplices while two fled away. The incident took place near vidore in the vicinity of Sakhi Sarwar Road.
The deceased have been identified as Haider, Mumtaz, Ejaz, Ilyas and Nouman, all residents of Bajour Agency of KPK. The police also said that the terrorists were coming from Balochistan and trying to enter Punjab.
However, Eid Miladun Nabi (SAWW) will be celebrated throughout the district with religious reverence, devotion and fervour. Special prayers and Quran Khawani will be held after Fajr prayers for the progress and prosperity of the country and well-being of the Ummah.
District Police Officer Ghulam Mubashir Maken has said that more than 900 police personnel have been deployed for the strict security arrangements of 14 Mahafil-i-Milad and 33 processions across the district.
The DPO urged Muslims to follow the teachings of Islam for peace and progress.
The main Milad procession would be taken out from Jamia Masjid Block-3 at 9 am and others small rallies and procession of Tehreek-e-Minhajul Quran, Pakistan Sunny Tehreek, Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan, Jamaat of Silsila Naqshbandia, Qadira and Soharverdia will join the procession.
Various religious, educational, cultural and social organisations have arranged special functions and Mahafil-i-Milad. Qirat and Naat competitions are also to be held to mark the day. Especially Youth Form DG Khan will hold famous annual function of Naat Khawani, Qira’at and Quiz programme to pay homage to the Holy Prophet (PBUH) Thursday night after Namaz-i-Aysha at Ghanta Ghar Gol Bagh DG Khan.
