KASUR - Police claimed on Saturday to have arrested the ringleader of an inter-district gang wanted by police of different districts in 25 cases of house dacoity.
Police also arrested four of his accomplices; recovered illegal arms and booty worth millions of rupees from their possession.
According to Pattoki Saddr police, accused Ashiq alias Ashqi Orh had formed an inter-district gang comprising 16 dacoits. The gang members were responsible for several dacoity incidents in the district. They had also been involved in highway robberies since long. A special team, on the direction of DPO Zulfiqar Ahmed, was formed for arrest of the gang members. The team successfully busted the gang; arrested the ringleader, Ashiq, and four of his accomplices including Aslam alias Pham, Arshad alias Arshadi, Irfan alias Naumi and Aslam alias Malang. The team also recovered booty worth millions of rupees, and illegal weapons including four rifles and three pistols from them. During interrogation, the accused confessed to have been involved in 25 incidents of house dacoity in Kasur, Okara, Sahiwal, Faisalabad and Sheikhupura districts. The other gang members have also been arrested and raids are being conducted for their arrest, police said.
