LAHORE - Ushna Suhail and Noor Malik – both from Wapda – reached the Serena Hotels National Ranking Tennis Championships 2021 semifinals after winning their respective semifinals at PTF Tennis Complex.
In the ladies singles quarterfinals, Ushna Suhail (Wapda) was up against Asfa Shahbaz and the champion tennis sat star played aggressive tennis and thrashed her opponent by 6-0, 6-0. Noor Malik also from Wapda played tremendous tennis against Sheeza Sajid and overpowered her with a score of 6-0, 6-3. Another star player Sarah Mahboob took little time to outclass Nida Akram 6-0, 6-1 and Meheq Khokhar defeated promising Natalia Zaman 6-2, 6-1.
In the men’s singles second round, Muzammil Murtaza beat Waqas Malik 6-2, 6-3; Mudassir Murtaza beat Ahmed Chaudhary 6-1, 6-3; Barkatullah beat Shahzad Khan 6-2, 4-6, 6-2; M Abid beat Abbas Khan 6-2, 6-0; Muhammad Shoaib beat Nofil Kaleem 6-1, 6-1; Aqeel Khan beat Saqib Hayat 1-0 (ret); Yousaf Khalil beat Sami Zeb Khan 6-4, 7-6(4) and Heera Ashiq beat Hamid Israr 6-3, 6-2.
In the boy’s U-18 singles second round, M Talha Khan beat Zaryab Khan 6-2, 6-2; Hamid Israr beat Hasam Khan 6-4, 6-0; Bilal Asim beat Azan Shahid 6-1, 6-1; Hasheesh Kumar beat Faizan Shahid 6-1, 6-2; Sami Zeb Khan beat Abdul Hanan Khan 6-3, 6-1; Ahmed Nael Qureshi beat Faizan Fayyaz 6-3, 6-1; Abdullah Adnan beat Kamran Khan 6-3, 6-2 and Mahatir Muhammad beat M Huzaifa Khan 6-3, 2-6, 6-2.
Meanwhile, PTF President Salim Saifullah Khan visited the PTF Tennis Complex on Thursday and witnessed the singles and doubles matches, and took a keen interest in the doubles match between the duo of Aisamul Haq Qureshi and Aqeel Khan and the pair of Shahzad Khan and Usman Ejaz. The PTF chief said that the participation of such players in national tournaments is always a source of inspiration for the younger players.
Balochistan Tennis Association President Justice Ejaz Yousaf also visited the PTF Complex and witnessed the doubles matches along with the PTF President Salim Saifullah Khan. He appreciated the organizers for conducting the event in a highly befitting manner.
