RAWALPINDI - Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) Monday awarded life imprisonment to three convicts for kidnapping two cousins and releasing them after taking Rs two million as ransom. The ATC Judge Sakhi Muhammad Kahot awarded life imprisonment to the convicts Muhammad Nawaz, Mumtaz Khawar and Muhammad Nadeem for kidnapping Khurram Shakeel and Faisal Mehmood both cousins for ransom on December 22 2006. However, the court acquitted four other men Ayaz, Ashraf, Iqbal and Muhammad Ayaz due to lack of evidence against them. As per details, Sadr Police in Jehlum registered a case against unknown men for kidnapping both cousins who just returned form France. They were released after paying ransom money. Later police arrested the seven men by tracing them through the calls made from different mobile phones. Separately, Additional District and Sessions (ADS) judge absolve two men from the charges killing a man in 2007. ADS judge Ghulam Mehdi Khan acquitted the accused Naveed Ahmed and Habib Ahmed of the charges of killing Abdul Qadir on the night of September 6, 2007 in the limits of Sadiqabad Police after prosecution failed to prove its case. According to the details, Waqar Hussain lodged a complaint with area police stating he along with his friend Qadir were going to Holy Family Hospital to inquired about the health of the elder brother of Qadir.
