BISE employees' pen-down strike ends

LAHORE - Employees Federation of Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education (BI&SE) Punjab have ended their half month long pen-down strike after successful dialogues between office-bearers of the federation and Punjab government representatives in Sargodha. Female MPA from Sargodha held dialogues with the office-bearers of the federation on behalf of Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif. She assured the employees that their real demands would be accepted by the Punjab government. Punjab Board Employees Federation has announced to call off pen-down strike being continued from February 10 in all Boards of Intermediate & Secondary Education of the province after her assurance. The decision was taken in a meeting presided over by President of Punjab Boards Employees Federation Haji Tahir Farooq at Sargodha on Tuesday. Secretary General Punjab Boards Employees Federation Mehr Muhamad Bashir, Chief Organiser Boards Employees Welfare Association Khalid Pervaiz Warraich, Vice Chairman Ch Muhammad Safdar and other office-bearers attended the meeting. The meeting assured on behalf of the chief minister Punjab to the Punjab Boards Employees Federation that all arrested employees of educational boards would be released and show cause notices issued to the board employees would be withdrawn immediately and Punjab government would consider all genuine problems of employees of educational boards sympathetically. According to the statement, PML-N MPA Mohtarma Tayyeba Zamir on behalf of the Punjab government had played important role in successful negotiations with regard to calling off strike of board employees. It is worth mentioning here that Punjab government ordered its DPOs concerned for the arrest of the employees and their leaders involved in provoking the other employees for strike. A good number of board employees had been arrested across the Punjab, but after the strike Punjab government had assured the employees to release all their arrested peers. It is noteworthy that on Tuesday morning said employees remained on strike around 3:00pm till the successful negotiations to call off strike.
