LAHORE A young woman and a 28-year-old tailor committed suicide in two separate incidents here in different parts of the City on Wednesday, police said. Police said that the woman committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan over some domestic dispute in Factory Area police limits while the debt-stricken tailor also hanged himself here in Wahdat Colony area. According to police, Maryam Bibi, 25, resident of Balochistan, committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan of her residence situated in factory area on early Wednesday. In-laws of the woman told the police that Maryam was dejected as she was issueless since she had tied her knot with her cousin Abdul Haseeb about one year ago. She was residing here with her husband, a prayer leader, in the locality since their marriage and the relations between the couple were strained for the last couple of months. Her husband used to exchange harsh words with her over this issue, police investigators said. The disillusioned woman confined herself in the bedroom on Wednesday morning and committed suicide. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced her death. The police have removed the body to the morgue for autopsy and were investigating. Meanwhile, a newly-married tailor committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan of his rented house situated here in Karnalpura, the vicinity of Wahdat Colony police station. Police said that Muhammad Asif was upset as he was unable to pay the loan, which he had obtained on the occasion of his marriage on high-markup from moneylenders. The deceased family told the police that some people were visiting his house regularly and threatening him to pay back the loan immediately. But the unemployed tailor was unable to repay the amount. On early Wednesday, he went into his bedroom and hanged himself from the ceiling fan. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. The police were investigating.
