LCCI to organise shopping festival

LAHORE - The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has planned to organize Lahore Shopping Festival from April 4, 2011 to April 10, 2011 to expedite trade and business activities in the country, highlight the soft image of country and to bring the investors back. Addressing a press Conference, the LCCI President Shahzad Ali Malik and Senior Vice President Sheikh Muhammad Arshad disclosed that the Lahore Shopping Festival encompasses a range of business and cultural activities that would be kicked off with a Qiraat competition. The LCCI president Shahzad Ali Malik said that the Lahore Shopping Festival would have in its fold First Punjab Expo 2011 that would be arranged at Lahore Expo Centre. It would be a three-day event where as many as 250 renowned business groups would showcase their products and on the sidelines of this exhibition an Investment conference would also be held. At the conference, a methodology to overcome the economic challenges being faced by the country would be given to the govt. The exhibition would be Made in Punjab in true sense of the word. He said that both the Federal and provincial governments have assured their full cooperation for the Lahore shopping Festival. Giving the details of this weeklong mega event, the LCCI Senior Vice President Sheikh Mohammad Arshad said that a Business Walk, a Vintage Car Rally, a motorcycle rally, a cycle rally, a shopping mela, a fashion show, a photography competition, LCCI Achievement Awards, an Investment Conference, a Business Plan Competition and a Polo Match are the other events of the Lahore Shopping Festival. The LCCI Senior Vice President said that the very objective of the Lahore Shopping Festival is to expedite the business activities in this part of the country. He said that not only the top notch businessmen would be participating in the Lahore Shopping Festival but all the ambassadors posted in Pakistan would be invited to these events. He said so far the LCCI itself is managing the events with the cooperation of it members and business community of the city but it has also requested the TDAP and PTIB to facilitate the LCCI in inviting potential foreign investors through Pakistani Commercial Consuls working abroad. He pointed out that President, Prime Minister, Chief Ministers and other mainstream political leadership would also be invited as chief guests in different events of the Lahore Shopping Festival. He said that the proposed shopping mela would be organized with the involvement of all the major markets and shopping malls in the City. It, actually, would be on the pattern of Dubai Shopping Festival, he said. During the Lahore Shopping Festival, lucky draws would be held at the end of day for shopping festival in which costly prizes would be given to the shoppers, he added.
