LAHORE - Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran on Wednesday regretted Pakistans 187th position vis--vis lowest budget allocation for education. The quality of life is suffering due to lack of education. The provision of educational facilities will have to be given top importance for an honourable survival in the society, Dr Mujahid told a seminar on the topic of Right to Education: Legal Implications in Pakistan (A brief session in context of 18th Amendment) here at University Law College. Incharge Principal Law College Samee Ozair Khan was also present on the occasion. Vice chancellor said that all the educational problems would have to be addressed on top priority and education should be taken as a matter of life and death. Dean Faculty of Law Prof Dr Muhammad Ehsan Malik said the two Es, education and economy, were compulsory for each other and education must be promoted for economic development of the country. Dean Faculty of Education Prof Dr Hafiz Muhammad Iqbal said we would have to play a collective role in promotion of education. He said it was regrettable that the number of primary schools was getting reduced despite its increase and 43 percent people of the society could neither write nor read their name. He said multiple education system was the major cause of disparity and social destruction.
