LAHORE-Punjab Senior Minister Raja Riaz has said that PPP will not resort to Governor Rule in Punjab under any circumstances, and is prepared to sit on opposition benches for the sake of democracy. In a press statement on Wednesday, he said that PPP was ready to make sacrifices for continuation of democracy and supremacy of law and the Constitution. He said only those elements were spreading rumors of Governor Rule who wanted to weaken democratic institutions in the country. Raja said his party was also prepared to sit on opposition benches to strengthen democratic institutions. The PPP leader asked PML-N leaders, Mian Nawaz Sharif and Mian Shahbaz Sharif to contact Ch Shujaat and Pervaiz Elahi to get their partys support instead of taking any unconstitutional step. He said PML-N should discourage turncoats who wanted to enter power corridors through illegal means. Meanwhile, Punjab Minister for Labour Ashraf Sohna said that PML-N had only two options; either to continue alliance with the PPP or make coalition with the PML-Q. Criticising Sharifs for their alleged patronage of the forward bloc, he said that every body knew who was providing funds and perks to PML-Q dissidents.
