Tuwairqi inks MoU for countrys largest solar project

LAHORE - Tuwairqi Steel Mills Limited Engineering (TSMLE) Solar, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SolarWorld to start countrys 40kv largest solar energy project at Shadman Mall Plaza here on Wednesday. TSMLE-Solar is a division of TSML working in the field of Solar Energy System, whereas SolarWorld is an European Photo-Voltaics (PV) module manufacturing company which provides design and development in the solar energy sector. The MoU was signed here by Muhammad Jamshed, Head Engineering & Instrumentation, TSML and Kai Klingenhagen, Area Sales Manager, SolarWorld. It is to be noted that Tuwairqi Steel Mills Project Director Zaigham Adil Rizvi set a new trend in encouraging his subordinates. While briefing the media, he announced that his TSML Electrical Department head Mohammad Jamshed would sign the documents of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as his contribution towards this agreement is laudable. It would be not out of place to mention here that earlier he stunned all political stalwarts including MPAs, MNAs and ministers when he called his physical disabled but pious low-grade employee to inaugurate Tuwairqi Steel Mills formally. Though this trend is in developing countries like Pakistan is strange but, in fact, it has infused a strong spirit amongst its employees. That is why all is set for the start of TSMLs DRI plant operation. Through the MoU, the companies will jointly explore solar energy projects in Pakistan and Afghanistan. The companies also have agreed to develop a feasibility study for setting up of PV module manufacturing facility in Pakistan. A joint team has been established to prepare necessary studies for the effective implementation of this MoU by assessing technical, commercial and procedural aspects. On this occasion, TSML head Zaigham Adil Rizvi said: With higher prices and growing scarcity of fossil fuel, solar power is finally emerging as a viable and efficient source of energy. There is an urgency of closing gap between energy needs and energy supply and renewable energy is the best guarantee for sustainable development. He informed that SolarWorld will train TSMLE-Solar personnel in designing of system, installation and its marketing, and will support the projects initiated by TSMLE-Solar in this region along with providing transfer of solar technology. Kai Klingenhagen, Area Sales Manager, SolarWorld expressed his happiness on selecting TSMLE-Solar as its official representative in this region. He said, Pakistan is facing energy crisis, which is adversely affecting agriculture, industries and other sectors. We have the expertise in solar energy sector and this technology can also be used for operating tube wells, supply of power to villages and so on. Solar energy is one of the most viable options for Pakistan. Even countries with less sun light are making the best use of this free resource (sun light). Pakistan is not short of sun light as sun shines on the entire length and breadth of the country throughout the year.
