ISLAMABAD- President Mamnoon Hussain said his meetings with the top Chinese leadership focused on prioritization and early completion of those projects having direct and immediate benefits for the people.

He stated this while talking to a delegation from Gilgit-Baltistan led by Minister for Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir Affairs, Barjees Tahir in Islamabad today.

Mamnoon Hussain said Pak-China Economic Corridor would usher a new era of socio-economic development in the region and would open new vistas of opportunities especially for the people of Gilgit-Baltistan.

He said the corridor would not only generate tremendous economic opportunities but would also be instrumental in promoting the tourism potential of Gilgit-Baltistan.

The President said the government is committed towards the uplift of Gilgit-Baltistan and is taking various measures for the development of the region.

Discussing overall situation in the country‚ Mamnoon Hussain said the government is facing various challenges including the issue of militancy and terrorism‚ revival of economy and energy shortages.
