ISLAMABAD - BNP head Awami Senator Mir Israrullah Zehri has moved the Islamabad High Court to provide him security in the wake of life threats.
In the petition, a single bench of IHC comprising Justice Riaz Ahmad Khan issued notices to federal interior secretary and provincial interior secretaries of Sindh and Balochistan here on Thursday. Justice Riaz also directed the respondents to submit their reply in this connection within a fortnight.
Zehri filed the petition through his counsel Toufiq Asif advocate and cited Federal Interior Ministry and provincial interior ministries of Sindh and Balochistan as respondents. During the hearing, his counsel Toufiq stated before the court that Senator Zehri is on the hit list of the terrorists since he is pro-Pakistan and he is facing life threats. He added that non-state actors could hit him due to his loyalty to Pakistan. Therefore, he prayed the court to direct the respondents to provide his client security in the federal capital, Sindh and Balochistan. After hearing his arguments, Justice Riaz Ahmad adjourned the hearing by directing the respondents to submit their reply within two weeks.
