Islamabad - The immigration staff of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) at Benazir Bhutto Islamabad International Airport offloaded and arrested a passenger when he was trying to travel abroad on fake passport, sources informed yesterday.

A case was registered against the accused and investigation is under way, the sources said. Sources said that Asad Mehmood son of Abdul Rasheed of Rawat tried to travel Oslo via Pakistan Airline flight number PK-771 on a fake Spanish passport number AAD754757. During the investigation, the passenger confessed that he got fake Spanish passport from an agent, sources said.

Meanwhile, a joint search operation was conducted by Islamabad police and Pakistan Rangers yesterday in Bhara Kahu and 25 suspects were rounded up, a police spokesman said.

The law enforcers also recovered 35-kg explosive material and 3 pistols of 9mm and 30-bore, he added. The search operation was carried out in the areas of New Abadi, Dhoke Abbasi and Kot Hathial. SSP Sajid Kiani has appealed to the citizens to remain vigilant and inform police in case of any suspicious activity around them.
