HANGU - Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) yesterday arrested five alleged terrorists including a militant commander during a search operation in district Hangu. On a tip-off, the CTD carried out a raid at a house situated in Bar Abbass Khel village and apprehended at least five terrorists including militant commander Khadi Gul, who hails from Orakzai Agency along with Sifat, Shafiullah, Mohammad Rasheed and one facilitator Fida.

Moreover, the CTD also recovered a rocket launcher, explosive materials, four hand-grenades and sophisticated weapons. All the apprehended terrorists were wanted by police in heinous crimes, while the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had announced Rs1 million as head money for militant commander Khadi Gul. The terrorists were later shifted to unknown location for further interrogation.

Separately, law enforcement agencies carried out joint operations in various parts of the provincial metropolis and apprehended at least 90 suspects including 17 illegal Afghan nationals on Saturday.

According to police officials, the operation was conducted in Shahabkhel area in Badbher Police Station limits and Pahari Pura. At least 90 suspects along with 19 Afghans who were illegally residing in Peshawar were arrested. An AK-47 and 2 pistols were also recovered from their possession. Cases were registered against Afghans under foreign act.

Meanwhile, Hangu police launched a search operation across the district and also arrested 26 criminals including proclaimed offenders. The operation was conducted at Meropak, Hamid Banda, Zanki Banda, Bahadar Banda and other localities. Police recovered several rifles, shot guns, pistols and 1,450 grams charas.
