I am writing this letter to bring into your notice about 20 years ago, we experienced the thrill and took up the challenge to raise funds for Pakistan’s first cancer hospital for poor people, for those who were not able to pay for their treatment. Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital as we know it today is without any doubt a symbol of hope for such cancer patients. Now, after 2 decades, a new campaign is being run on national media to raise funds for Pakistan\’s second Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital in Peshawar.
For me this turns out to be a very nostalgic and emotional moment as it reminds me of all the enthusiasm and motivation we had at that time when the first SKMCH was under construction and me and my friends were very excited about all that, we sold charity tickets in our school to raise funds for the hospital. History is repeating itself and once again we can see fundraising appeals and adverts of Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital, this time in Peshawar. Lets be part of this historical moment once again for such a humane cause and make it possible
