Rawalpindi - Securing educational institutions has become the top most priority of the government and law enforcement agencies (LEAs) after the Taliban’s fresh deadliest attack on Bacha Khan University, Charsadda.

The cops are directed by top police boss to intensify search operations in the region to net the suspects and terrorists. In this connection, the top two police bosses along with high-ups of City District Government Rawalpindi (CDGR) yesterday visited several educational intuitions, including Wah Medical College that is facing threat, to review the security arrangements made by the administration to tackle any untoward incident.

The Tehrik Taliban Pakistan (TTP) threatened to attack WMC, Wah Cannt, a few days ago, putting the LEAs on the toes across the region.

Regional Police Officer (RPO) Wisal Fakhar Sultan Raja visited WMC and witnessed the security arrangements by the management to avoid any terror attack. The RPO held meeting with director security and other staff and directed them to enhance security measurements inside and outside the college by installing CCTV cameras and deputing armed guards.

Wisal Fakhar, later, went to Cadet College Hassanabdal and checked the security arrangements.

The top police boss was received by Acting Commissioner Rawalpindi Sajid Zafar Dall, District Coordination Officer (DCO) Chaudhry Habib Ullah, Assistant Commissioner (AC) Hassanabdal Syeda Ramla Ali, SDPO and other staff of the cadet college.

In a meeting, the staff briefed the RPO about the steps being taken to improve the security of the college to protect the lives of students in case of any terror attack.

The RPO also paid a surprise visit to office of SDPO and Police Station Taxila and checked the crime registers. He ordered police officers to intensify search operations in the area to flush out the suspects and terrorists from the region.

SP Potohar Division Muhammad Ateeq Tahir was also present on the occasion.

On the other hand, the management of Pir Mehar Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) told City Police Officer (CPO) Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi during his visit to the varsity that the management has improved the security by deputing armed guards and installing CCTV cameras in the premises of the institution.

The CPO, who was accompanied by acting Commissioner Sajid Zafar Dall, asked Vice Chancellor Dr Rai Niaz Ahmed to make all-out efforts to secure the lives of students by improving security of the university.

Meanwhile, CPO Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi paid a visit to brick kilns situated in the suburbs of the city. The CPO warned the kiln owners not to force children for making bricks on the kilns. He said that the police would not allow any body to violate the law and cases would be registered against the violators under the Punjab Protection of Child Labour at Brick Kilns Ordinance 2016.

On the occasion, AC Cannt Dr Sataish, DSP Cannt Circle Syed Iqbal Kazmi, SHO PS Naseerabad Ahsan Kiyani and in-charge Police Post Hameedan were also present.
