It is sad that government has lost patience with criticism. The famous comedy shows such as Hum sub Umeed Sey hein or Fourman Show etc offered much better humor than the SMS, which are, after all, a property of those who have cellular phones. The government cannot stop it even though it wanted to curb it by imposing a levy on it which they did and later withdrew on the pressure of the cellular MNCs. By threatening such draconian laws without legislating them, PPP is making itself most unpopular. Benazir would have never allowed anyone to curb free speech. -G. OMAR, Peshawar, via e-mail, July 15.
