LAHORE - Chief Justice Lahore High Court on Thursday constituted a four-member committee to check revenue record and take action against the illegal occupants in the Aitchison Housing Society (AHS) after the registrar Co-Operative Societies reported that more than 50 per cent of plots in the society were under illegal possession. The committee will be headed by EDO (R), which consists of SP Saddar, registrar co-operative societies and president AHS. The report revealed that 113 plots in Phase-I and 191 plots in Phase-II of the AHS were in the possession of illegal occupants. Some police officials have also been named in the report for grabbing the society land. They include SP Nizam Durrani, a SSP (name not mentioned in report) having possession of seven plots, a motorway inspector (name not written in report) and one Mian Shahid who occupied 21 plots. The report further revealed that some land of the AHS was also encroached by Judicial Colony. It alleged that former president of the society, Munawar Ali Syed, awarded all the illegal possessions. The chief justice had taken suo motu notice over the alleged non-issuance of plots by AHS to three women who made full payment in 1981. According to a complaint sent to the CJ by post, Humaira Amjad, Feroza Sarwar and Zammurad Salman had bought three different plots, F-17, F-15 and A-62 of one kanal each in Aitcheson Housing Society in 1981. It was further stated that the plots F-15 and F-17 were illegally occupied by the ex-president AHS while A-62 was in possession of Maqsood Butt. Acting on the application, the CJ had appointed a local commission to look into the matter of non-issuance of plots after the law officer informed the court that their plots did not situate in the society. He further contended before the court that the documents produced by Humaira Amjad and Feroza Sarwar also revealed the same. He, however, informed the court that the plot of Zammurad Salman was situated in the society and she could obtain occupation of her plot.
