Notice issued to 29 principals

LAHORE - Following the strong resentment shown by Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shehbaz Sharif towards the poor results of certain colleges in BA/BSc examination, the Higher Education Department has issued explanation letters to the principals of 29 colleges of the province, sources in the education department disclosed. They claimed that the secretary Higher Education had directed the principals of these colleges to appear in person before him on Thursday (23rd of July) to defend and explain their position. But when they reached the secretary Higher Educations office Thursday in response to his letter, the secretary himself was not present and was out of the City with the Chief Minister Punjab. Now the principals, will be given fresh dates for this purpose. It is to be noted that only those principals were called, whose colleges success rate remained below 10 per cent. It is worth mentioning that Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif in the result declaring ceremony had expressed his resentment and pledged that the principals showing poor results would be taken to task. To recall, during his last tenure, he had recommended suspension of such college heads for poor showing in BA/BSc exams. The principals and colleges whose results remained below the required level included Principal of Govt College Bochal Kalan Chakwal, whose two students of BSc appeared in the exams but the result remained zero. Government College Bhakkar is also among them with 42 BSc students but only 3 passed the examination, thus showing 7.14 per cent result. The other colleges are: Govt College Bhai Pheru, 8 BA students, zero result; Govt Taleem-ul-Islam College Chenab Nagar, Chiniot, 26 BA students 2 pass, result percentage 7.69; Govt Islamia College Faisalabad 21 BSc students, 2 pass, result 9.52 per cent; Govt Fareed Bukhsh Ghausia Degree College Faisalabad, 35 BA students, 3 pass, result 8.57 per cent; Govt College Gojra, 112 BA students, 8 pass, result 7.14 per cent. Govt College for Women Rahwali Gujranwala, 5 BSc students, zero per cent; Govt College Chak 170/JB Jhang, 4 students, result zero per cent; Govt College Dina, 4 BA students, zero result; Govt Degree College Jaranwala, 33 BSc students, 3 pass, result 9.09 per cent; Govt College Kamokee, 21 BA students, one pass, result 5.0 per cent; Govt PST College Kamalia, 4 BSc students, zero per cent; Govt Shalimar College Baghbanpura Lahore, 50 BSc students, 4 pass, results 8 per cent; Govt College for Boys Ferozepur Road Lahore, one BSc student, zero result; Govt Degree College for Boys Lahore Raiwind, 25 BA students, one pass, result 4 per cent; Govt MAO college Lahore, 80 BSc students, 7 passed result 8.07 per cent; Govt College Liaquatabad Mianwali, 31 BA students, 3 pass, 9.68 per cent; Al-Bairuni Govt College Pind Dadan Khan, 26 BA students, 2 pass, result 7.69 per cent; Govt PYS Degree College Phalia, 15 BA students, zero result; Govt Degree College Pattoki, 13 BSc students, zero result.
