No-trust move filed against AJK PM

MUZAFFARABAD A no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Raja Farooq Haider Khan, was submitted in the Legislative Assembly Secretariat on Friday, which is likely to be tabled in the Assembly on Tuesday. The no-confidence motion has been signed by 13 members from the opposition benches in the Assembly. The members who have signed the motion include Sardar Mohammad Yaqoob Khan, former Prime Minister (Friends Group) alongwith his party members Ch Mohammad Aziz, Ch Siddique Batli, Ch Mohammad Akbar, Mahmood Riaz, Abdul Majid Khan, Chairman Pakistan Occupied Kashmir Peoples Party Ch Abdul Majeed, Ch Lateef Akbar, Secretary General, Peoples Party, Sardar Ghulam Sadiq, Mian Abdul Waheed and Mohammad Hanif Awan, Ch Anwarul Haq of Peoples Muslim League and Tahir Khokhar of MQM. In the no-confidence motion, the AJK PM has been charged with failure to protect and project the status of Azad Jammu and Kashmir government as base camp for the Kashmirs liberation and accession to Pakistan struggle, delivering good governance to this base camp, to accelerate the development works in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, raising new issues leading to creating mistrust between Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir and lack of control over the administration. The financial and administrative mismanagement has become worse spurring frustration among the government employees and Raja Farooq Haider has lost confidence of the majority members in the Assembly. The no-confidence motion also claims that there are reports that Raja Farooq Haider is planning to dissolve the Assembly. The motion has charged the PM with misuse of the resources and authority to retain his powers. In the larger national interest and to save the State from further misadventures, the no-confidence motion is moved with the request that under Pakistan Occupied Kashmir Interim Constitution Act 1974 the assembly session be convened and no-confidence motion be placed for voting, says the text of the motion. In the motion, the name of Sardar Attique Ahmad has been proposed for election as Leader of the House. It is pertinent to mention here that the Opposition in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir Assembly has 19-member strength, but the no-confidence motion bears the signatures of 13 members. Barrister Sultan Mahmood and his two members, two members from Peoples Party and one member from MQM have not signed the motion. The motion has been planned and finalised probably in a hurry and at the time when the other members of opposition parties were not available to sign the motion. The ruling party has the strength of around 34 members in the Assembly and most of them are considered as reliable colleagues of Sardar Attique Ahmad. This scribe has learnt from sources that Sardar Attique Ahmad was contacted and tipped by the corridors of power in Islamabad as Prime Minister and he had sought time for consultation with his parliamentary members.
