ISLAMABAD Friday, the otherwise fortunate day (Mubarark Youm), turned out to be an unfortunate day for police officials of all the four provinces including Capital Police. The apex court during the proceedings of miscellaneous cases found several inaccuracies and serious flaws in police investigation. Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry took serious exception to the negligence by SP Islamabad Sajid Kiani and reprimanded him for his laxity in the investigations into a land dispute at Bhara Kahu area of the Capital solely relying over one partys stance. Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday said the Bhara Kahu police was involved in the land grabbing. During the hearing, Supreme Court dismissed SP Islamabad Sajid Kianis investigation as dishonest and said that Inspector General Islamabad Police should investigate the case himself within 15 days. Justice Ramday remarked that honesty demanded that the police should provide justice in this situation. The case against the Station House Officer (SHO) of Bhara Kahu police station was filed by one Nafeesa Begum. The case alleged that the Bhara Kahu police had helped the opposing party in land grabbing. The court also expressed its displeasure over Peshawar polices blunder for showing the Chief Justice a complainant in a murder case. The trail of Peshawar polices follies did not end there as it wrote the name of the Chief Justice as Chief Justice Iftikhar Ali Shah instead of Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. To the courts inquiry, SP Investigation Peshawar Waqaruddin requested the court to allow him make changes in the FIR. The court in another case observed that the IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa did not take appropriate action against DSP Qazi Farooq, who was allegedly involved in the abduction of two daughters of one Dr Akhtar Nawaz. Later, while responding to SP City Lahore, Nawazs plea that he was investigating into an abduction of six year old case of a boy, the court termed his details irrelevant and suggested him to go abroad for learning tactics of investigation. The court also directed the IG Islamabad and IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to appear in person before the apex court on next hearing. Warning the remaining IGPs, Justice Ramday remarked, We would take your badges from you, adding that the incapable police officials know nothing about investigations, they acquire degrees from abroad but lag far behind in the field of investigation.
