LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif presided over a high level meeting here on Friday to review law and order situation in the province, says a handout. Provincial Minister for Law Rana Sanaullah Khan, Senator Pervaiz Rasheed, Members of Provincial Assembly Col (r) Shujja Khanzada, Zaeem Hussain Qadri, Chief Secretary Punjab, Home Secretary, Inspector General Police and senior officers concerned were present. Addressing the meeting, the chief minister said that peace and tranquility is essential for progress and development, therefore, the whole nation will have to be united for rooting out the menace of terrorism from the society. He said that all out resources are being utilized for the protection of life and property of the people and maintenance of law and order in the province. He said that police has been provided modern facilities and now it is its responsibility to spare no efforts for the safety of citizens. He said that police and law-enforcement agencies should remain fully alert to maintain a peaceful atmosphere in the province and utilize all their energies and resources for this purpose. He said that an atmosphere of mutual brotherhood, tolerance and religious harmony should be ensured in the society. He directed that action should be taken without any discrimination against the elements involved in wall-chalking, distribution of provocative material and delivering inciting speeches and the law regarding the use of loudspeakers should be strictly implemented. The meeting reviewed overall law and order situation in the province and security measures at the places of worship. Inspector General Police gave a detailed briefing regarding law and order and security arrangements at the shrines and worship places in the province.
