ISLAMABAD (APP) - Federal Minister for Finance Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh said here on Friday that efforts would be made to get the draft bill for restructuring the Federal Statistical System of Pakistan passed by the Parliament soon. The federal minister was chairing a meeting to review the status of Restructuring of the Federal Statistical System of Pakistan. He assured the meeting participants of the governments full support in provision of all financial and human resource requirements for the new entity, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). Earlier, Secretary Statistics Division, Saeed Ahmad Khan apprised the minister that the Restructuring Draft Bill, duly approved by the Cabinet, has been tabled in the National Assembly on January 27, 2010. The bill had been passed on to the NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs and Statistics for examination, he added. It may be noted that a meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Economic Affairs and Statistics was held on 15 July, 2010 wherein the Statistics Division made a detailed presentation about the draft bill. The Committee however, adjourned the meeting with the notion that its next meeting would be conclusive.
