ISLAMABAD - Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Communication, Mir Wali Muhammad Badini, with the sense of members of the Committee directed the Secretary Communications and Chairman NHA on Friday that in future the officials who come on deputation, must be posted in Balochistan and not in other part of the country. Employee hailing from Balochistan who comes on deputation should be posted in the same province, said Badini while talking to TheNation after the meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Communication. He further said that contract employees of NHA were not regularised despite announcement made by the Prime Minister. All the contract employees should be regularised according to policy of the Government, he maintained. The meeting reviewed the progress of work on the remaining part of the project of Layari Expressway Karachi. Talking about the road project, the Secretary Communication told the Committee that 75 to 80 percent work had been completed and the remaining work would be completed after the release of Rs 1.2 billion from the Federal Government. The project was to be completed by November 2004, but due to non-availability of land from the Province, the remaining work was delayed, he said. Senator Lt Gen (Retd) Javed Ashraf said that Government of Sindh had given the undertaking that it would acquire land, and for this purpose the Federal Government allocated sufficient funds, but still it was reluctant to acquire land due to political reason. The Chairman of the Committee with the sense of other members requested the Minister of State for Communication to arrange a meeting with the President to resolve this issue while taking all stakeholders on board. The Minister for State for Communication Imtiaz Safdar Warraich assured the Committee that the Ministry would submit its report on the subject after meeting with the President soon. Senator Dr Muhammad Ismail Buledi said that keeping in view the total area of Balochistan, 20 percent employment quota instead of 7 percent should be meant for the province. The Chairman NHA stated that they had advertised certain jobs, which were exclusive for the people of Balochistan, in daily newspapers since Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan. He assured the Committee that in the next meeting, they would give district-wise details of such recruitments. The Minister for State and Secretary Communication also assured the Committee that they would also submit detailed report of employees belonging to Balochistan and presently working in the Motorway Police.
