CPSP directed to enroll institutes with PMDC

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of National Health Services Regulation and Coordination has directed the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan (CPSP) to get their training institutes registered with the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC).
Secretary Ministry of NHRS&C Rashida Malik directed the College of Physicians and Surgeons through a letter while mentioning that it is a mandatory responsibility of CPSP and all the training institutions to fulfil the requirement to get their qualification notified by the Ministry and get this qualification included in and third schedule of PM&DC.
“This matter had come to the knowledge of the Secretary NHRS&C a couple of months back that PMDC is declining to register the FCPS qualifications awarded by College of Physician and Surgeons Pakistan, Karachi, because the qualification from CPSP was under question and the training institutes were not included in the third schedule of PM&DC duly notified by the Ministry of NHSR&C as per section 16 of PM&DC ordinance 1962 amended through an Act #XIX of 2012,” says the letter.
The secretary stated in the letter, “to resolve the issue of almost 700 fellows whose applications are lying pending with PM&DC the College of Physician and Surgeon of Pakistan should realize the responsibility in this regard as per section 16 of PM&DC ordinance 1962. And fellows should not suffer any more.”–Staff Reporter
PM&DC President Prof. Dr Masood Hameed Khan endorsed the statement and apprised the media that PM&DC has taken a prompt action on the directions of Secretary NHRS&C and has started issuing the pending applications of fellows as an amnesty.
