LAHORE - The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has launched a four days long sanitation drive in the Walled City to improve the state of cleanliness and maintain the beauty of city’s most historic locality.
The campaign includes deployment of 200 workers for zero waste operation, clearance of open plots, de-silting of sewerage drains, gully grating, manual and mechanical sweeping of streets and roads, mechanical washing of mosques and historic monuments along with a massive public awareness campaign to sensitize residents on their responsible role for the maintenance of sanitation in the future.
On the first day, Waseem Qadir, Coordinator to MNA Mian Hamza Shahbaz lead the drive participating in an awareness walk, door to door public briefing and leafleting activity along with LWMC officials including Manager Communication Jamil Khawar, Manager Operations Ayyaz Mazhar, Assitant Managers Asad Ahmed, Umair Khan, Rehman Rashid and Zonal Officer Mian Aslam. Students from Institute of Communication Studies, University of the Punjab also took part in the awareness drive .
