RAWALPINDI - A citizen knocked the door of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to launch probe into huge corruption and other illegal practices being committed in the Excise and Taxation Office Rawalpindi, reliable sources informed The Nation on Thursday. The applicant named Director Excise Tanvir Abbas Gondal, Motor Registration Authority head Malik Pervaiz, Assistant ETO Suhail Sabir and other officials in the complaint and sought strict action against them.

A citizen namely Qaisar Javed appeared before NAB and submitted an application in which he stated that the NAB should take action against the officers of Excise and Taxation Office, Rawalpindi who issued fake receipts of property tax of worth Rs35 million and pocketing million of rupees recovered on the pretext of token or transfer fee instead of depositing in bank in the national exchequer. He stated that ETO Malik Pervaiz made delay of one day in depositing Rs3 to Rs5 million in the bank, which was illegal and against the law.

“I have met with Director Excise to ask as to why the amount was deposited in bank with the delay of one day but the director remained tight lipped on the issue,” the applicant wrote. Qaisar Javed requested NAB to take legal action against the officials of ETO Rawalpindi to recover plundered amount from them.
