Death warrants for condemned prisoners

LAHORE - District and Sessions Court Thursday issued fresh death warrants to two condemned prisoners convicted of murdering Khizar Hayat and Saeed Muhammad. Both the convicts would be hanged on July 28 and 29 respectively.
Barrister Sarah Belal represented the case of Khizar Hayat before the court and stated that the jail authorities in 2008 diagnosed that Khizar Hayat had been suffering from paranoid schizophrenia. He was a police constable and arrested for killing a fellow cop.
Previously the Lahore High Court had also stayed the execution of Hayat a day before the hanging. Shadbagh police had arrested him in October 2001 and the trial court awarded him death sentence in 2003. However, the court later recalled the stay after jail authorities stated that Hayat was fit for execution and issued death warrants. Both the convicts had committed murder in two different cases. Saeed was convicted in 2008.
