RPO orders crackdown on illegal LPG decanting

RAWALPINDI - Regional Police Officer (RPO) Wisal Fakhar Sultan Raja on Thursday ordered the top police bosses to launch a massive crackdown on the dealers who are running the illegal business of decanting Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) in the region.
“The owners of LPG refilling agencies should not only be arrested but their shops should also be sealed to save the lives and property of people,” RPO added.
According to details, RPO Wisal Raja said that decanting LPG (shifting from one cylinder to another) is illegal but many dealers have been running this illegal business in Rawalpindi region with impunity, posing a great threat to the lives and properties of people.
He said that many blasts occurred in past while refilling cylinders claiming precious human lives. “It has become necessary to stop the illegal business in the region,” he added.
RPO Wisal Fakhar Sultan Raja directed City Police Officer (CPO) Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi, Divisional SP Saddar Circle Dr Sardar Ghias Gull, SP Potohar Division Muhammad Ateeq Tahir, Acting SP Rawal Division Sardar Babar Mumtaz, DPOs Attock, Jhelum and Chakwal Nadim Hussain, Mujahid Akbar and Dr Moeen Masood to discourage the illegal business in their areas by launching crackdowns on the dealers involved in LPG refilling. He said that police should not only nab the violators but also seal their shops so that they could not continue illegal business in future. “In this way, lives and properties of public can be saved,” RPO mentioned.
