SIALKOT-Federal Minister for Defence, Water and Power Khawaja Asif expressed his concerns over the very poor performance of Sialkot Education Department, saying that it has failed to ensure the attendance of the teachers at the state-run schools and colleges.

Sialkot has been included in the districts where most of the teachers remain absent from their duties in the government educational institutions, he regretted. He was addressing the participants of a special ceremony after distributing the appointment letters to educators/teachers and assistant education officers at Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School Sialkot Cantt.

He said that during his schooling era, the students used to remain absent from the schools and now in present regime the teachers remain absent from their duties in government schools and colleges in Sialkot. He said that it was sorry to say that the officials of Sialkot Education Department have miserably failed to ensure the attendance of the teachers.

He expressed concerns over the poor quality and low standard of education. He said, “We had a female candidate for the vacant post of vice chancellor of Govt College Women University Sialkot. During her interview, she wrote only four lines in which she made nine mistakes.”

He urged the teachers to be dutiful and perform their duties honestly, with full devotion, dedication and enthusiasm to educate the generation. He said the students are the future of the nation. He said that no nation could develop without the promotion of the quality education. Earlier, he distributed the appointment letters to the newly recruited teachers.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony of a newly established terminal building held at Sialkot International Airport, Asif termed Sialkot industries the backbone of the national economy.

He highly hailed the unique export culture of Sialkot. He added that the Sialkot exporters play a pivotal role in strengthening the national economy and boosting the exports by earning foreign exchange to the tune of US$ 2 billion annually.

He said that the government was fully aware of the prolonged problems of the business community and making efforts for their solution. He said that the government was also strengthening national economy, boosting the industrial structure and striving to overcome the persisting energy crisis.

He said that the government’s effective policies were giving boost to the country as its efforts were also becoming fruitful. He added that the economic stability was the priority of the present government through solving the energy crisis.

He said that the government would continue its development agenda by taking the business community into confidence, adding that the agenda was to put the country on the highway to economic stability. He said that Pakistan’s economic indicators were getting better day by day thereby restoring the confidence of the national and foreign investors on the businessmen.

He linked the national prosperity with the political stability and continuity of the government’s policies. He narrated that the national economy was moving in the right direction, adding that the country needed the development of the human resources for the continuous economical growth.

He said that the national economy was recovering day by day, as the government was successfully injecting the fresh blood into it through the restoration of confidence of the national and foreign investors.

Local MPAs Ch Tariq Akhtar Subhani, Ch Muhammad Ikram, Sialkot DCO Dr Asif Tufail, DMO Sialkot Muhammad Aamir Raza, Sialkot EDO (Education) Muhammad Farooq an senior officials of the colleges’ department were also present on this occasion.

SIALKOT-KARACHI FLIGHTS

The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) started its domestic flight operation between Sialkot and Karachi once in a week.

PIA officials announced that later, it will increase the number of flights between Sialkot and Karachi.

Federal Minister for Defence, Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif today inaugurated the newly established domestic terminal building at Sialkot International Airport during a special ceremony.

On the occasion, Khawaja Muhammad Asif said that the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will lay the foundation stone of mega project of Sialkot-Lahore Motorway during his visit to Sialkot on August 9, 2016. He said that the grand project of Sialkot-Lahore Motorway would be completed in a stipulated period of next two years.

Farmers urged to use new tech

Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has asked the farmers to adopt the advanced technology for enhancing their per acre yield.

Addressing a meeting of the local farmers held at TMA Hall Narowal, he said that it has become vital to use the modern machinery and agricultural techniques for making the farmers economically prosperous besides bringing the green revolution in the country.

The federal ministers added that the government has paved the way for green revolution in the country by announcing the Kissan Relief Package. He said that it was making efforts for boosting agriculture and solving the perturbing problems of the farmers.
