KHYBER AGENCY - The tribal elders of tehsil Landi Kotal said that they will support every act to regularize Torkham border but the policy should not be based on principle to increase unemployment in the area.

Since the creation of Pakistan, tribal people are playing their due role and will never hesitate to lay their lives for the sake of the motherland, they said.

During a press conference held in Landi Kotal press club last day they said that imposing pro-state restrictions on the Torkham was appreciable act but it should not bother the local business activities and inter-relations between people being lived on the both sides of the border.

They asked the concerned authorities to formulate an exemption procedure so that the people of the bordering areas could move freely on the border.

They said that a representative jirga comprising of elders of the three tribes would meet Inspector General Frontier Corp (IGFC) and would apprise him of problems being faced by them in Torkham.

The elders stressed upon the officials to take into confidence the tribal elders before implementing necessary policy to avoid mistrust between masses and the government.

Pakistan had rendered great sacrifices for restoration of peace in Afghanistan and the recent erupted border tension needed to be solved through dialog.

The tribal would favour respectful repatriation of Afghan refugees to their native country, they remarked.
