How ironic is this? After 11years, Mr Saifur Rehman (former chief of the defunct Ehtesab Bureau), his brother Mujeebur Rehman, former IGP Rana Maqbool, former DIG Farooq Amin Qureshi and SP Najaf Mirza have been issued warrants for attempting to kill Mr Zardari. Mr Zardari has claimed that he could identify police officials who tortured him. The question here is that warrants are being issued after eleven years in this case but what about the case that pertained to what happened on 20th September, 1996, outside 70 Clifton. On that day, Mir Murtaza Bhutto was shot and killed by policemen of the government of his own sister, Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. There were at least a 100 of them present that day at the time of Murtaza's assassination, some of very high level, who till today continue to be in high positions. Never ever have they been questioned or raised a finger at. In fact, they have been promoted through out. Till today I have never truly understood the utterly senseless killing of Murtaza Bhutto. It didn't make any sense. That night someone lost a son, a brother, a husband and, above all, little children lost their father. -SYEDA FATIMA BOKHARI, Lahore, via e-mail, June 16.
