Arrest warrants issued against Dhoni for slandering Hindu god

An arrest warrant has been issued against the Indian cricket team captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni for offending the religious sensibilities of Hindus.

Dhoni failed to attend the hearing, despite being served with three notices from the court. The illustrious Indian cricket team skipper was depicted as a Hindu god on the cover of Business Today’s latest edition. It was accompanied by the title – “God of Big Deals” and a picture in which he was holding a shoe in one of his hands, in addition to products of several other companies.

Local leader of the Vishwa Hindu Party (VHP) alleged that the cricketer had not only hurt Hindu sentiments but had also belittled a much-venerated deity. Petitions against Dhoni have also been filed in other Indian cities.
