ISLAMABAD-Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) secretary Information, MNA Ayesha Gulalai has alleged the Federal Government of ignoring the serious matter of the internally displace people (IDPs) of North Waziristan Agency (NWA).
In a statement issued today, Ayesha Gulalai said that Prime Minister gave the go ahead for military operation without making arrangements for the displaced people who were now moving helplessly with their families. She said that despite the promises of central government about providing transport facilities, women and children were still reaching Bannu and other districts by foot after covering long distances in this scorching heat. Despite being the Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharrif has not yet visited any camp to see the condition of innocent women and children where as Imran Khan had visited IDP camps in Bannu on Monday.
The PTI secretary information also expressed her concern over the ban on entry of the people, affected by the [military] operation, to Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan, and termed it violation of the constitution of Pakistan, as FATA is part of Pakistan and people displaced from the tribal areas have the right to go to any part of the country. She said that people from the tribal belt have scarified their lives, homes and families for the security and stability of Pakistan and they should be welcomed by all instead of being
left alone in this hour of need. She said that almost 4.5 lakh people have migrated out of NWA and around 200 people have shifted to the camps set by government whereas the rest have shifted to different parts of KPK.
She also accused the central government of failing to inform KP government prior to launching of operation knowing that the influx of IDPs will raise serious problems for KP government . However despite limited time and resources, the PTI government has initiated relief measures for IDPs on emergency basis and we will spare no efforts to discharge our national obligation in a befitting manner by working round the clock. She said that a Ramadan package had been announced for them in addition to providing free health treatment in 8 districts of the province. The provincial government has also provided electricity, water and other basic services to the camps set by the federal government .
Ayesha Gulalai demanded that the funds for IDPs set by the federal government should be provided to the province on emergency basis and measures should be undertaken to ensure the exit of innocent people who are still trapped in NWA.
