• The Mezan Tea T20 Ramzan-ul-Mubarak Cup presented by Interloop is underway in Faisalabad. National Bank Pakistan battled it out against Candyland to book a place in the semi-finals of the tournament.

  • Batting first, Candyland were provided with a solid start by Sami Afridi and Majid Amin. However, as the innings progressed, Candyland suffered from a fairly low scoring rate and the hopes of reaching a high total of 170 began to fade away. Opener Sami Afridi scored a half-century and was accompanied by captain Sohail Akhter who batted well for his 29. Fawad Alam was the pick of the bowlers with his five wickets, followed by Usman Qadir who also claimed three.
  • Chasing a target of 128, National Bank were provided with a blistering start by Nasir Jamshed and Sami Aslam. Jamshed middled the balls to perfection and scored 45 runs before getting cleaned up while playing a loose stroke. Fawad Alam fell prey to a mistake made by the umpire and had to return to the dug-out after scoring just 13. Sohail Akhter, captain of Candyland, after performing with the bat, produced magic with the bowl as well. In his quota of 4 overs, he picked up 2 important wickets and leaked away only 19 runs at a miser economy rate of less than five.
  • Wickets fell at regular intervals before Hammad Azam took the responsibility of finishing the game for his side. Scoring 25 runs at a strike-rate of 138, Azam wrapped up the game with four balls to spare. With the victory, National Bank qualified for the semi-final of the tournament.
