LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Tuesday summoned National Highway Authority’s chairman to justify that why did he not comply with court’s order regarding the payment of arrears to an employees was not made.
NHA computer operator Sohail Latif filed a contempt of court petition submitting that the authorities were not releasing his withheld arrears even after the eleven years old order of the court. The petitioner asked the court to initiate contempt proceedings against the chairman of the NHA and other authorities concerned.
A deputy director of the NHA told the court that the matter of the petitioner was under consideration and would soon be resolved.
The court, however, expressed serious concerns over the authority’s attitude towards judicial order. The court directed the NHC Chairman to appear in person on the next hearing to explain that why the court’s order was not complied with. The hearing adjourned till the next week.–Staff Reporter
