Rawalpindi - Police have failed in lodging first information report (FIR) against station house officer (SHO) of Police Station Rawat in a contempt of court case despite orders of an additional sessions judge, sources revealed to The Nation here on Tuesday.
The court also issued arrest warrants of the SHO in the contempt of court case.
However, the legal branch of Rawalpindi police has received court orders and is reviewing its legal status for registration of case against the SHO, sources added.
According to sources, Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Rana Zahid Iqbal directed police to register a case against SHO Malik Asif Nawaz in a contempt of court and asked city police officer (CPO) to present report in this regard before the court.
They said that the SHO despite repeated court orders had failed to produce the cops posted at Rawat police station for recording their statements in a murder case before the court. The murder took place in the year 2012.
Talking to The Nation, DSP (Legal) Raja Azmat confirmed that he had received court orders from the CPO Office and was checking the legal status of the case. He said he would give his recommendations to the CPO for filing case against the SHO. He said that case would be registered soon and report would also be presented before the court.
SHO PS Rawat Malik Asif Nawaz, when contacted, said that it was an old murder case. He said that he had not received the court summons asking him to produce the cops for recording of their statements.
