Islamabad: Demand of electricity today decreased after rainfall in various parts of the country, with a significant reduction in power shortfall.

According to Water and Power Ministry sources, electricity production in the country today was 13,144 megawatt (MW), whereas the demand has minimized to 16,645 MW after which the shortfall has remained 3500 MW.

Besides this, further reduction in shortfall is also likely. Due to fall in power demand, load-shedding duration has also been cut short.

Authorities claim that urban areas are facing five hours of power outage, whereas rural areas are going through seven hours of load-shedding.

However, duration of load-shedding in line losses feeders is more than usual.
