Islamabad - The Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet Division on Tuesday sought report about the appointments of ghost employees in federal educational institutes while issuing directions to regularise services of contractual employees.
Secretary Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Hanif Khalid revealed before the committee that fake teachers had been appointed in different schools and colleges but the CAAD had launched an operation against these employees. He mentioned that CAAD took action against those officials who were involved in the appointment of ghost employees and transferred them from their positions. Director General Federal Directorate Education (FDE) Dr Shahnaz Riaz briefed the committee that contractual employees have been fighting for regularisation of their services for last two years and waiting for salaries for the last four months.
Committee Chairman Senator Talha Mehmood referred the issue about hiring of ghost employees in government institutions to Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for investigation. He ordered secretary CADD to release salaries of all contractual employees immediately which had been withheld due to shortage of funds. She requested the committee to ask finance division to release the amount for paying salaries to the employees.
Senator Kalsoom Perveen said that the instructions were issued to construct boundary walls of all schools and install gates after attack on Army Public School Peshawar. However, the CAAD had failed to implement these directions so far.
The secretary CAAD replied that CAAD had issued tenders for construction of walls and in this regard Rs 180 million have been released regard. He informed the committee that CADD was ready to make Argentine Park part of Polyclinic Hospital and summary has been moved to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for seeking his permission in this regard.
The committee members asked the secretary CADD to resolve this issue because bureaucracy was main hurdle in extension of Polyclinic Hospital.
The director general National Library told the committee that National Library has 300,000 books and he had started the process of digitalisation of these books.
