Nawaz offers cooperation to PPP

LAHORE - PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif on Monday announced his full-fledged cooperation to PPP govt to change the fate of the nation while inviting all the political parties to join hands to make Pakistan prosperous. Addressing the party General Council meeting held at his residence in Raiwind here on Monday, Nawaz said he was ready to team up with PPP to pave way for genuine revolution in the country, adding that he along with the PPP government and other political parties would change the fate of the country. 'I announce that PML-N will lend its utmost cooperation to PPP govt to meet all challenges including terrorism, poverty, joblessness, price-hike, energy crisis and others', he added. Former Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, Raja Zafarul Haq, Javed Hashmi, Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Khawaja Saad Rafiq, Mian Marghoob Ahmed, Hamza Shahbaz were also present on the occasion. The PML-N Quaid announced to reconciliation with all the political forces on national issues. He said, "We have to move forward rising above all our differences." Nawaz said he conveyed to Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani who called on him with the message of President Asif Ali Zardari that he never nurtured any personal animosity and vendetta against President Zardari. He said he conveyed to Prime Minister that implementation on Charter of Democracy would strengthen the foundation of cooperation between PPP and PML-N. Prior to address, he presided over the General Council meeting. Nawaz further said that what people had done could not be materialised by Parliament on March 16. He said that long march was not for personal ends, hence when deposed judges were reinstated it was called off forthwith. Nawaz said that he launched long march breaking into fences installed by the govt. 'When I came out of my residence, I did not believe on my eyes witnessing the flood of people joining my caravan for long march', he added. He said that though judges had been reinstated but journey toward revolution had not ended here. Giving reason about the long march, he said that long march had to be launched as govt backed out of its promises as a result the party had to pull out from the coalition govt. He said govt tried to damage us by dislodging our govt in Punjab and Governor rule was imposed.'But we preferred national interests to personal gains', Nawaz maintained. He said that it was high time to act upon the philosophy of Quaid-i-Azam. He said that now everybody should understand that decisions could be made on roads if mandate of people was not honoured in the Parliament. On the occasion, PML-N president and former Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif said that that it was day to reiterate the resolve that we will work for the rule of law and justice in the country. 'We swear that we will purge the country from looters and dacoits and corrupt elements', he added. He congratulated Nawaz Sharif for taking the risk of his life to launch long march. 'People belonging to every province took to roads and joined long march. When the caravan of Nawaz Sharif was moving, nobody dared to come in its way and stop it', he said. He said that people came out when it believed that leadership was standing on principles. He greeted lawyers on the success of long march, saying the black coats propelled the movement at the cost of their business. He also congratulated JI chief Qazi Hussain Ahmed, PTI chief Imran Khan and other leaders who played their vital role in the success of the long march. He said 'our destination was progress and prosperity in the country'. The General Council meeting was attended by all party provincial Presidents, officer-bearers and workers. Meanwhile, the meeting passed a number of resolutions and congratulated nation over the reinstatement of deposed judges including Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. The meeting announced that party would leave no stone unturned to work for the independence of judiciary, free media and uphold the supremacy of law and Parliament in the light of Charter of Democracy. The meeting announced that PML-N would work for checking terrorism, religious extremism, removing growing deprivation in NWFP, Balochistan, preparing proposal to end energy crisis. The meeting said that party would promote simplicity on all levels. It will stress upon holding of Local Bodies election on party basis, awarding special status to Northern Areas and strengthening relations with India and Afghanistan. The meeting said that PML-N would work for the solution of Kashmir issue. Foolproof security arrangements were made during the meeting. The participants of the meeting were thoroughly checked at four points before reaching the (central stage) Pandal. More than 1,000 police personnel were deployed there. Close circuit cameras were also installed. A lion attracted the attention of the participants. People made number of photographs with the lion and chanted slogans Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif as the 'lions of nation'. Our Monitoring Desk adds: PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif has termed the judges reinstatement as the triumph of future generations urging all the Pakistanis to work jointly to guarantee a progressive and developed Pakistan in future. While talking in a Private TV channel programme, regarding Pakistan Day and responding to the questions as voiced by the attended children, he remembered the memories of his childhood related to the Pakistan Day (March 23rd) by stating that the day had its importance in his early childhood, as the day was off in school and disclosed the memories of love and honour and relationship between him and his younger brother Mian Shahbaz Sharif. He further attributed his successes owing to the better guidance from his parents and reaffirmed the acknowledged fact that 'a woman is behind every successful man' while describing the sacrifices and initiatives by his wife Kulsoom Nawaz, who even came on roads during his exile. Former Prime Minister further stated that, if he were to be the Prime Minister of the country third time, he will put particular attention for the upbringing of children, as they are the future builders of the nation. He further advised the children to obey their parents and teachers, because a man, who disobeys his parents and teachers could never succeed in his life. While Begum Kulsoom Nawaz speaking on the occasion said that Mian Nawaz Sharif was not only a good man, but also a competitive and honorable politician and ruler. She also advised the children to speak the truth and to offer their prayers regularly, as prayer is the only way to connect God, as He is the sole commandant of the world. Meanwhile, in an interview with a private TV channel, Nawaz has said that confidence restoration with Pakistan People's Party will take time, and his party has not yet decided to join government in the centre. 'I do have grievances, but no grudge against President Asif Zardari', Nawaz said hoping that distances between him and President Zardari would soon come to an end. In an interview with a private TV channel on Monday, Nawaz said that implementation on Charter of Democracy was a durable solution to all issues the country was confronting at this stage. He said that the PPP had no differences regarding undoing of Constitution's 17th amendment. He demanded President Zardari and Prime Minister Gilani to take action against those elements who were busy in dismantling Punjab's political fabric. He said that a parliamentary commission should be constituted in connection with judges' appointments.
