KARACHI - Sindh Governor, Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan, Chief Minister, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, and members of the provincial cabinet Monday visited the Mazar of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah to pay homage to the father of the nation on the eve of Pakistan Day, laid floral wreaths there and offered fateha. Talking to newsmen on this occasion, Governor Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan said that Pakistan Day was the day for renewing pledge to serve the country and set it on the path to progress. CM Qaim Ali Shah said "we have come here to pay homage to Quaid-e-Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah, the founder of the country. He said Pakistan came into being as a result of unprecedented sacrifices rendered by the Muslims of South Asia so that they could achieve their economic, political and social rights. "Now it is our duty to follow the golden principles propounded by Quaid-e-Azam and work for the welfare, betterment and development of people of Pakistan", he added. Qaim Ali Shah said that people of Pakistan and of Sindh have given their mandate to political parties including PPP and now these forces should come up to the expectations of the masses and strengthen the democratic institutions. He said that present government was utilising all resources to eliminate poverty from the country, particularly from Sindh, so that the downtrodden people could get their legitimate rights. The CM vowed that all political imbalances would be removed. "We will work under the leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari and with the cooperation of MQM chief Altaf Hussain and President ANP Asfandyar Wali along with PML-F, NPP and PML-Q, will make Pakistan economically and politically stronger". "Our effort would be to annul this FIR after an independent inquiry," he said. Regarding provincial autonomy, the CM said that provinces must have autonomy as per constitution and their demand. He said there should be amendment in the constitution in consultation with smaller provinces so that Pakistan could emerge stronger and at the same provinces were granted autonomy. To another query, he said that jobs were being provided on merit and in a transparent manner and without any amendment in the rules. Syed Qaim Ali Shah also inspected a guard of honour presented to him at the CM House on the occasion of Pakistan Day. Later, he attended "Bara Khana" hosted by his PSO Riaz Soomro.
