LAHORE 'Aman Conference was held under the aegis of Alliance for Human Development at Al-Hamra Hall here the other day. President of the Alliance Shehzad Ali Zulqernain presided over the conference, while SPOK Regional Head Salman Abid was the chief guest. Salman Abid praised the efforts by Alliance for holding 'Aman Conference. During these trying times, it is a fresh breath of air to talk about peace in the midst of terrorist activities, he added. While addressing the conference, Head of Mass Communication Department Queen Marry College Saima Kausar said a strong political will was required to strengthen the peace process, and a halt to military intervention was a must for bettering democratic and political culture. Zulqernain was of the view that people could not materialise peace-dream without providing social justice to the masses, and to realise this dream, all need to empower philanthropists and peace-loving sections of the society. Akmal Awaisi said the AHD had declared 2011 as a year of peace, and in this connection, the AHD would be holding a number of social and cultural activities in Lahore. Legal Advisor to Governor Punjab Abdullah Malik, Dr Azhar Ahmed and South Asian Partnership Chief Executive Mohammad Tehsin were the guests of honour.
