Awards conferred on Rescue 1122 DG, CCPO

LAHORE Rescue 1122 Director General Dr Rizwan Naseer has also been conferred with Presidential Award of Sitara-i-Imtiaz for establishing Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122). The service, being integrated system for emergency preparedness, response and prevention, is a model for the entire SAARC region. After success in Punjab, this service is now being replicated in other provinces. Dr Rizwan Naseer was persistently making efforts in this regard for the last 20 years during which he initiated emergency preparedness and disaster management programme in Punjab and worked as national coordinator for emergency preparedness programme of WHO and health ministry of Pakistan. As a representative of national task force for revamping of civil defence and emergency services of interior ministry, he was able to build consensus amongst provinces and finalised the emergency services reforms and legislation which if implemented in 2002 could have saved thousands of lives during 2005 earthquake. Meanwhile, Capital City Police Officer Aslam Tareen was awarded Tamgha-e-Imtiaz on Wednesday at a ceremony held here at Governor House on the occasion of Pakistan Resolution Day March 23. The Governor conferred this medal on the CCPO, who has already received two highest medals from the Federal government including Quaid-e-Azam Medal. Aslam Tareen has been awarded the honour of Tamgha-e-Imtiaz for displaying best strategy and bravery that he displayed during GHQ terrorists attack while he was serving as Regional Police Officer (RPO) Rawalpindi. NH&MP organises solidarity rally: National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP) celebrated Pakistan Day by organising bikers solidarity rally and making special arrangements besides holding special ceremonies at Guidance Center, Training Institute Sheikhupura and on all the national highways and motorways on Wednesday. A '23rd March 2011 Motorway Police Heavy Bike Solidarity Rally from Lahore to Bhera, Faisalabad to Bhera and Islamabad to Bhera was organized under the personal supervision of the IG Motorway Dr. Wasim Kausar.
