ISLAMABAD - People belonging to various walks of life from Khyber to Karachi are feeling the heat of ever-increasing inflation and want the government to take appropriate steps in the 2011-12 budget to mitigate their sufferings and improve the sagging economy. In separate interviews with The Nation they offered various proposals for improvement in their respective sectors. They say the new budget should be aimed at introducing reforms for poverty alleviation, control in non-stop price-hike, industrial revival and macro-economic stabilisation through a fair tax system. They think increase in the allocation for power and energy projects funds will facilitate the closed industrial units, resulting into the large scale employment to fulfil the socio-economic needs of the citizens. The business community wants relaxation in taxes, uninterrupted power supply and improvement in the law and order situation to revive the industrial sector.
