LAHORE The Pakistan Day was celebrated with zeal and fervour across the country on Wednesday. March 23 is the day when Pakistan Resolution was adopted in Lahore in 1940. The day started with 31 gun-salutes in the federal capital, while 21 each in provincial capitals of the country. The change of guard ceremony was held at the mausoleum of Allama Muhammad Iqbal. Special prayers were offered for solidarity and prosperity of the country. Like previous years, people from all walks of life attended ceremonies arranged at the government and private level to mark the event. Children sang national songs in these ceremonies. National Highway and Motorway Police mark the day by organising Solidarity Bikers Rally and making special arrangements and holding ceremonies at Guidance Centre Lahore, Training Institute Sheikhupura and on Motorway and all the national highways. Heavy Bikers Rally was organised from Lahore to Bhera, Faisalabad to Bhera and Islamabad to Bhera. A special ceremony was organised at Motorway Police Training Institute in which national flag was hoisted, national songs were sung and speeches were made. On Motorway, sweets were distributed among commuters and banners were displayed at all toll plazas. At Camp Jail Lahore, special prayers were offered for the prosperity, solidarity and well being of the country and the nation at all mosques after Fajr prayers. At 8 am, national flag was hoisted in the lawn of prison. Debates, group discussions, milli naghma competitions were also organised among inmates. Sweets were distributed among officers, staff and prisoners.
