Implications of long electricity break-downs

With no hope of an early end to energy crisis the introduction of UPS has compensated for the electric break-downs to a considerable extent. The energy stored in the normal UPS, however, does not last for more than two hours. The loadshedding spells of around three hours’ duration have become a normal feature these days. Such a prolonged loadshedding have two serious implications (1) Occurring at night the long blackouts exhaust the UPS supply compelling the people to resort to candlelight. This badly affects the efficiency of students preparing for exams or the next morning class studies. (2) The days have gone when the normal water pressure was so high that the pipe water was available even on the third floor of a house. Now the water for daily use has to be stored in the rooftop water tank filled by the electrically operated water machine. The long loadshedding spells make the water machines redundant creating a water famine all around. If the people in power have the slightest sympathy with the common citizens of Pakistan, they must ensure that the loadshedding spells are not longer than one hour at a time.
