Canadian High Commission organises charity cricket event

ISLAMABAD  - Canadian High Commission in Pakistan arranged a four-team cricket tournament for the noble cause at Marghazar Cricket Ground to raise funds for a charity organisation.
Led by Canadian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Greg Giokas, the Canadian High Commission cricket team, the Maple Stars, along with the US embassy cricket team, the US Stars and Stripes, the Pakistan Cricket Board star team and a Star-Eleven team consists of media, film and music celebrities came out in full force to raise funds for the Citizen's Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) in a one-day cricket tournament. The event also served to highlight the passion and expertise that exemplifies Pakistan as a cricket-loving nation.
Canadian High Commission team beat US embassy, while PCB XI beat Showbiz XI, while in the 10-over a side final, PCB XI beat Canadian High Commission team to lift the trophy. While a friendly 6-over a side match was also played between Canadian High Commission and Roots School System team, which was won by Roots.
The event raised more than RS 500,000 for the CPLC and gave and gave profile to its important work, as well as Pakistan's contribution to cricket internationally. Australian High Commissioner Peter Heyward, Ambassador of US Richard Olsen, Raven Judith Cultural Attaché US Embassy Islamabad, head of European Union delegation in Pakistan Lars-Gunnar Wigemark, Canadian High Commissioner Greg Giokas along with other diplomats participated and rejoiced making the match an enthralling and worth watching event.
